The second round of Ontario Indoor Cup finals wrapped up over the weekend at the Ontario Soccer Centre in Vaughan.
The U-13 and U-18 boys and girls division were in action, playing a tournament round on the Saturday and the semi-finals and finals on the Sunday.
The winner's circle saw some new faces and returning champions. The North York Armour Heights Heaven's Eleven won their first U-13 Boys Ontario Indoor Cup title while the Woodbridge Strikers returned to the champions spot with their U-13 Girls side.
NorWest London FA won the U-18 Girls Ontario Indoor Cup in a penalty thriller while the North Toronto Nitros cruised to a U-18 Boys Ontario Indoor Cup title win.
The Ontario Indoor Cup is a young competition in comparison to the outdoor cup which was first played in 1901. The Ontario Indoor Cup began in 1987 and over the years it has moved from boarded facilities to the former Skydome and then to soccer-specific no board venues.
The popularity of the indoor game has resulted in a demand for the Ontario Indoor Cup in most age divisions. The level of participation has taken the competition from a centrally staged Round-Robin format, to regional play-downs across the province, culminating with the Final Round hosted at The Ontario Soccer Centre in Vaughan
