The OSA is delivering prize packs to four lucky clubs to assist them in further growing their inclusive soccer programs.
Soccer Development Coordinator Charonne Thomasos was in Ottawa over the weekend to present Nepean City Soccer Club with their prize pack of equipment to help support their program and commend them on the success of their program.
The Just for Kicks program was started and is led by Shannon Bagg and Joanne Small-Greenall and is fully supported by Nepean City Soccer Club.
This program gives children aged 5 to 12 with developmental disabilities an opportunity to get active and have fun while learning soccer-related skills.
“Hearing the enthusiasm and positive tone of the organizers as they describe the experience of this program – from celebrating each child upon arrival to the field through to the eagerness of volunteers of the program to get involved (who by the way are as young as 6 years old) was fantastic to see” said Thomasos.
Success came in the form of an overwhelming demand for more activity and organizers were able to increase the size of the Just for Kicks program this past outdoor season and looks forward to continued growth.
Congratulations again to Nepean City SC for the success and recognition of a great program.
Clubs offering inclusive soccer programs were drawn at random following a summer survey run by the Canadian Paralympic Committee (CPC) and Ontario Soccer Association. The survey was designed to assist the CPC in measuring the level of activity in soccer clubs across Ontario.
