This year, the OPDL has expanded to the Under 15 division, which means that the OYSL will not operate at this age. As the Under 15 Boys division of the Ontario Cup is tiered, it means that we must redefine the competition tiers. Due to the uncertainty of the number of teams in the Regional Leagues that would participate in the Ontario Cup, the OSA Competitions Committee decided to give teams outside of the Regional Leagues the option of playing in Tier 1.

For the 2016 Ontario Cup, in the Under 15 Boys divisions only, teams in Regional Leagues will play Tier 1 and all other teams will have the choice of Tier 1 or Tier 2.

The Under 16 and Under 17 Tiered divisions will not change.

Teams in the Provincial or Regional Leagues will play in Tier 1 and all other teams will play in Tier 2.

Ontario Cup Entry Form

The 2016 Ontario Cup Entry Form is now available.

The process is the same as this past Ontario Indoor Cup and Ontario Futsal Cup and uses the new platform that was developed in the fall.

As a reminder, the new process is as follows:

1. A team will go online to the Ontario Indoor Cup section of the OSA website and click on “Ontario Cup Entry”.

2. The Entry Rules page will come up and there is a link to the Entry Form at the bottom of the Entry Rules page.

3. After clicking on the Entry Form button, the Entry Form will come up and the team would go through the process of completing the Form.

4. After submitting the Form, an e-mail receipt will be sent back to the team contact as verification that the Entry Form was submitted.

5. Ontario Cup staff will then review the Form and mark it as pending, which will then send an e-mail to the Club. The e-mail to the Club will request the Club to click on a link within the e-mail which will take them to a website page where they can view the team entry and then approve or decline the entry.

6. Once a Club has approved a team entry, an e-mail will be sent to the District Administrator letting him/her know there is an application pending approval. At this point, the person in each District that will be the Ontario Cup Form Approver will login in to the ontariocup.ca website, access the Ontario Cup application report from the Approver's district and either mark the team entry as approved or declined.

Once a team has been approved at the Club and District level and payment has been received, the Ontario Cup Staff will mark the team as approved and an e-mail will be sent to the team contact letting them know the team is accepted into the Ontario Cup.

Date Change for Under 16 Preliminary Round

The date of the Under 16 Preliminary Round has been changed from June 24-26 to June 3-5 to avoid conflicts with school exams. The Under 15 Tournament Round will stay on June 24-26 as teams will only be playing within their Region due to the Ontario Summer Games format and will therefore have minimal travel requirements on the Friday of the Tournament weekend.
