Ontario Soccer would like to inform all District Associations, Clubs and Academies of the implementation of the Long Term Match Officials Development (LTOD) Mentor Program that is being introduced in May 2019.

Over the course of 2018, Ontario Soccer researched, restructured and piloted a new format that focuses on an all-inclusive (Mentors aged 13 and up), peer-to-peer mentorship program.

During the Pilot the new material and process enabled our Mentors, Mentees, Clubs, Districts and Provincial governing body to capture data and highlight development areas and strengths for over 200 Match Officials.

This data offered a new opportunity to magnify development areas in a structured format to help build education material for Match Officials across the province. To see more about the 2018 Mentor Pilot Statistics, click here.

In May 2019, Ontario Soccer will be launching the new Mentor Program. As a component of Ontario Trillium Funding, Ontario Soccer will be providing 25 complimentary Mentor Accreditation Clinics across the province. District Referee Coordinators are encouraged to reach out to Club’s to allocate a clinic.

To see how these clinics are distributed, click here.

For 2019, Clubs and Academies will be responsible for selecting individuals to complete the accreditation. Those who are interested in becoming accredited as a Mentor must contact their local Club or Academy. Please ensure that all steps in the application process are followed.

Please note: All mentors accredited under the previous Mentorship program must re-accredit under new program if they wish to continue to Mentor for Ontario Soccer, District Associations, Clubs or Academies.
