Milkup Future Leaders Award - Central: Jessica Misek

Jessica has been playing soccer since 2008 and is currently on the League 1 Reserve Team for Open Rush Canada. She has played recreationally, and later competitively in the OPDL. She made the RUSH USA national team and participated in several tournaments and she is a leader on and off the field.

Currently, Jessica is a coach in Oakville Soccer Club’s Active Start program, coaching and guiding their youngest players and instilling a love for the game. She has been volunteering in this program since 2017 she brings joy and growth to every child she works with. She also patiently mentors the newer coaches in the program, bringing out the best in them.

Jessica is an accomplished volunteer and community steward, as well. She has completed the requirements for her the Bronze, Silver, and Gold Duke of Edinburgh Awards for her dedication to Community Service, Personal Growth, and adventure; the Gold award alone requires 52 weeks of community service, athletics, skill and a vigorous weeklong adventure journey (Bronze is 13 weeks and Silver is 26 weeks).  She has volunteered in a senior care virtual environment, and as a volunteer cashier at Fortinos raising money for her soccer team.

Jessica’s accomplishments carry on in her academic life as well, winning various awards in her time at St. Mildred’s-Lightbourn School. Awards were in the following categories: Computer Science, Athletics, and French. She is also a Level 2 (Grade 7) pianist, and sat on her school’s athletic council.

Jessica is now attending Wilfred Laurier University, working on her Bachelor of Business Administration and her Bachelor of Science.
