Coaches - High Performance Award: Marco Reda

Marco Reda has been part of Canadian Soccer Community since he was six years old - starting as a house league player for Woodbridge Soccer Club, moving to a professional career , being a national team member, playing abroad at the club level and coming full circle, working as the Technical Director for the Boys Program at the same club he started playing with as a young boy.  Furthermore, Marco is the father of two young children who are now playing for Woodbridge Soccer Club.

Marco began his professional playing career in 1997 with the Toronto Lynx under coach Peter Pinizzotto, leaving a soccer scholarship from Winthrop University behind to pursue a career as a professional athlete.  Marco played 12 years of professional soccer before retiring in 2009 after a season with the Vancouver Whitecaps.  His career included stops in Norway, Denmark and the USA.  It was in Scandinavia that Marco hit his peak as a professional, being named to the league team of the year in back-to-back seasons for Norwegian league minnows, Sogndal IL.  Marco was capped seven times with the Canadian Men’s National Team. He was also a member of the U20 and U23 National teams.

When Marco retired from playing professional soccer, his first instinct was to get involved in youth soccer and he began working for Woodbridge Soccer Club. As the Boys’ Technical Director, Marco strives for excellence and accountability and he has helped change the dynamic at the soccer club both on a technical level and an administrative level.  He has high demands and expectations of himself and those around him as his goal is to continue to elevate Woodbridge SC as one of the premier youth clubs in Ontario.
