Saverio Lento has been dedicated to the game of Soccer in Thunder Bay for over 20 years as a Player, Instructor, Coordinator, Facility Manager and Coach to both male and female players between the age of 3-24. Saverio strives to teach and instill in his athletes the right way to compete, how to be a good teammate and how to carry yourself on and off the field.
Saverio’s love of coaching began at the grassroots level in 2002 for the Thunder Bay Chill and as an Instructor at the Soccer Plex. Not long after, Saverio also became involved as a coach for the Ontario Provincial Program. Most recently, Saverio has been involved as a PDL assistant Coach, PDL Goalkeeper Coach and a Competitive Head Coach for the Thunder Bay Chill. Saverio is also responsible for managing many areas of the Grassroots and Competitive competition for the Thunder Bay Chill Soccer Club.
Saverio coordinates player registration, communications and facility bookings. He organizes the club’s tryouts, festivals and camps and is responsible for developing the schedules and team training calendars. As the Head Coach for the Thunder Bay Chill, Saverio has coached and guided many players to university Scholarships, the Ontario Provincial Team and to semi-professional and pro contracts.
Notably, Saverio has also led many of his teams to win numerous Championships. Some of these Championship titles include PDL National Champions, USA Cup Champions, Ontario Cup Champions, Winnipeg Golden Boy Champions and NSC Cup Champions. Saverio’s outstanding contributions to soccer in the Thunder Bay community have made him well deserving of this recognition.
