Patty Forbes became involved in soccer as a good number of people do, through her children. One of her first roles in the sport in 1991 was as a coach for one of her daughter’s soccer teams at Whitby Iroquois Soccer Club.
Over the course of the next 27 years Patty took on roles that were more administrative in nature, beginning as team manager for her other daughter’s competitive team at Whitby Iroquois SC and later Ajax United FC. Patty then served as a Board member for Whitby Iroquois SC and the Durham Girls Soccer League, before becoming the Club administrator for Whitby Iroquois SC.
Patty has volunteered for Ontario Soccer for many years at Ontario Cup and National Competitions. In addition, Patty has been a member of several committees at both the District level and Provincial level including the Ontario Soccer Discipline and Appeals Committee.
Her full-time work in the sport began 15 years ago as a District Administrator and then Executive Director of Durham Region Soccer Association. She has recently transitioned into the position of Director of Administration at Ontario Soccer.
All of these roles in administration came naturally to Patty and were focused on facilitating a great participant experience for players, coaches and match officials in the sport of soccer. Over the past 27 years the soccer landscape has changed and Patty has continued to embrace those changes by participating on committees that worked to facilitate and implement progress and innovation in soccer across the Province.
