Doug Blair has played a key role in the tremendous growth of the North Toronto Soccer Club (NTSC) for over 25 years. Since 1993 as a volunteer recreational coach and organizer, and since 2007 as General Manager/Executive Director.
Starting with only a few part-time staff in 2007, through Doug’s hard work and visionary leadership the Club has grown to 18 full-time and 15 part-time staff, plus over 100 seasonal employees and over 700 volunteers. There were over 5,500 separate program registrations at NTSC in 2019, across recreational and competitive, indoor and outdoor, academies and summer camps.
Some of his notable accomplishments over the years include long-term field license agreements with school boards and private parties, the establishment of a Special Olympics program, and the creation and expansion of a player subsidy program for families in need of support.
In addition, under Doug’s leadership, the Club has maintained the Ontario Soccer Club Excellence Gold standards, was one of the founding OPDL clubs, and has been a recent recipient of the new Canada Soccer National Youth Club License.
He has helped to extend the player pathway for elite players by joining League1 Ontario and by establishing a College Prep program designed to increase player contact with Canadian and U.S. Colleges and Universities. Doug has earned the respect and gratitude of all who work with him.
