Evaluations

C Licence and B Licence Part 1 Evaluations

 

 

Please note - all coach evaluations are on hold. Those who have already requested a coach evaluation before April 2020, and have been placed in to an evaluation block will be communicated to directly. 

Coaches who would like to request an evaluation, we ask that you hold all requests until the suspension of Soccer in Ontario is lifted. 

 

How do I request my evaluation?

Once you are ready for your evaluation, contact Ontario Soccer's Coach Development Team, with the following information:

  • Course you completed, including full date and location
  • Preferred registration block
  • Second preferred registration block
  • Contact information (preferred e-mail and phone number)
  • For C Licence Evaluations only: Topic assigned for your evaluation
  • For B Licence Part 1 Evaluations only: Name of Coach Developer who reviewed your Portfolio
  • Confirm that you've read through the Evaluations webpage, including the information found in the PDF documents below.

Upon providing this information, you will be added to the first available block, based on your preferred blocks stated.

Important: For coaches that completed their course prior to 2019, payment steps will be shared to finalize registration. Coaches that completed their course in 2019 and beyond have already completed payment through their registration for the course.

Evaluation Process

Upon fully completing the C Licence or B Licence Part 1 course, coaches must successfully complete their practical evaluation to attain C Licence "Certified" or B Licence Part 1 "Certified" status. Evaluations are completed via the video evaluation process. The year is organized into the 4 following blocks:

Important: Please note the changes to Blocks 2, 3 & 4 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As we continue to monitor the situation, further changes may be announced in mid-April 2020 and beyond.

  • Block 1 - January 7 - March 30 (Registration Closed
  • Block 2 - May 4 - July 31(Open for registration)  / April 6 - June 30
  • Block 3 - June 8 - August 31(Open for registration)  / July 6 - September 30 
  • Block 4 - September 7 - November 30 (Open for registration) October 5 - December 21 

Within each block, coaches will complete the evaluation process, as follows:

  1. Creation and submission of your full session plan and Emergency Action Plan (EAP);
  2. Pre-brief of your session plan with your assigned Ontario Soccer Evaluator, prior to delivering your session;
  3. Video recording and submission of your practical session;
  4. Review of your recorded session by your Evaluator;
  5. De-brief with and feedback by your Evaluator, for your practical session.

C Licence Evaluation

Coaches completing the C Licence evaluation will submit (1) full session plan and an Emergency Action Plan, based on the theme assigned to them during their course.

For the delivery of the session, coaches are only required to submit a recording of their Initial Game and Analytical Activity, with the recording totalling 30 minutes. Players used must meet the following criteria:

  • minimum 12 players
  • aged 11 and older

If coaches are unsuccessful in their evaluation, they are eligible for up to 2 re-evaluations within the 18 month period following. Each additional evaluation is subject to payment of $150. Coaches are able to appeal an unsuccessful evaluation and/or the evaluation process or procedure. Please see the Appeals document below for detailed information on the appeal process.

B Licence Part 1 Evaluation

Coaches completing the B Licence Part 1 evaluation will submit (6) full session plans (3 attacking themes and 3 defending themes) and an Emergency Action Plan. The themes for these session plans will be chosen by the coach, from the list provided in the course content. Once the session plans have been submitted during the evaluation process, the assigned Ontario Soccer Evaluator will select (1) session for the coach to carry out.

For the delivery of the session, coaches are only required to submit a recording of their Initial Game and Functional Activity, with the recording totalling 35 minutes. Players used must meet the following criteria:

  • 14 - 16 players
  • LTPD stage 4 (13-17 years of age)

If coaches are unsuccessful in their evaluation, they are eligible for up to 2 re-evaluations within the 18 month period following. Each additional evaluation is subject to payment of $150. Coaches are able to appeal an unsuccessful evaluation and/or the evaluation process or procedure. Please see the Appeals document below for detailed information on the appeal process.
