Amanda Vandervort is a soccer player, coach and sports business executive with an extensive track record of leadership and innovation stretching across all areas of the game. As the current VP of Fan Engagement at Major League Soccer, Vandervort works with League and Club executives to deliver compelling fan experiences and drive revenue. She previously served as the VP of Social Media & CRM where she led the direct-to-fan marketing, database management and social media teams.
A key part of the explosive growth across the League’s digital and media properties, her work was instrumental in MLS winning Sports Business Journal’s 2018 “Best in Social Media” award. Vandervort has been a featured speaker at several top sports business conferences and events, including Leaders in Football and SXSW, in addition to being honored as a Sports Business Journal Game Changer in 2016.
In addition to her role at MLS, Vandervort served as an instructor for FIFA Women’s Football for six years. She led marketing and communications workshops in India, Jamaica, Grenada, St. Lucia, St. Kitts and Nevis and Tanzania, and spoke at the 2011 and 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup Symposiums in Germany and Canada.
Prior to joining MLS, Vandervort helped launch Women's Professional Soccer (WPS), leading the League’s cutting-edge digital and social media strategy.
Vandervort played soccer at the youth, high school, college and adult levels. A goalkeeper, she was a two-year captain at the University of Wyoming (NCAA Division I). Vandervort was the Head Women's Soccer Coach at NYU for four years, and before that, the Graduate Assistant at The College of New Jersey. Vandervort holds her United Soccer Coaches (formerly NSCAA) Premier Diploma and a B coaching license from the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF). Vandervort was a member of the United Soccer Coaches Board of Directors for 10 years and in 2016 became the fifth female President in the Association’s 75-year history.
