The Ontario Indoor Cup U-16 Boys Ontario Indoor Cup final took place Sunday at the Ontario Soccer Centre, in Vaughan, as the Canadian Futbol Club took on the Whitecaps London.

These two teams met earlier in the tournament with the Canadian Futbol Club’s only loss coming against the London side.

This game was an example in contrasting styles as the Canadian Futbol Club looked to set a speedy pace with their full bench while London sought to slow things down and work it around with only a few substitutes available for the final.

London’s keeper Elesio Melillo, after suffering a few knocks throughout the first half, made two fantastic saves to keep his side in the game and ensure the score stayed locked at 0-0 heading into the halftime break.

Canadian Futbol Club’s Carter Robart was equal to the task when the second half resumed, ensuring his team stayed in the match, making a number of saves of his own.

With 12 minutes remaining, the game finally saw its first goal.

Canadian Futbol Club’s Colin Mackie had his shot deflect off the post on a near miss but the rebound fell to the foot of his teammate Noah Williams who calmly slotted the ball into the back of net and make the game 1-0.

Canadian Futbol extended their lead to 2-0 only a few minutes later when Nikola Subotic got on the end of some clever passing and found the back of the net.

Robart would make a few more saves for his side, ensuring he preserved the clean sheet and giving the Canadian Futbol Club the U-16 Boys Ontario Indoor Cup title.
