Play. Inspire. Unite.

The second weekend of the League1 Ontario 2018 men’s playoffs group stage is in the books and we already know who will represent group A in the Championship final.

Group A action started off with a Thursday night matchup with a determined Vaughan Azzurri side needing only a goal to grab a victory over Alliance United.

Elsewhere in group play saw 2018 League1 Ontario regular season champs FC London settling for a 1-1 draw to Darby FC, ending their playoffs hopes and allowing Vaughan to advance to the Championship Final on October 20.

In Group B play, after Round 1 loses, both Sigma FC and Unionville-Milliken S.C needed a victory to keep them alive in the playoff hunt.

A two goal performance from Kadell Thomas gave Sigma the 2-1 win over Unionville, ending their chances of advancing.

The other matchup featured a rematch of the 2017 League1 Ontario Championship Final between the Oakville Blue Devils and Woodbridge Strikers.

After Woodbridge scored twice in the 72’ and 79’ minute, Oakville answered right back in the 81’ and had a 90+5’ header from Nuno Carvalho earn the reigning League1 Ontario champs another opportunity to win the group next weekend.
