The opening day of the 2018 Canada Soccer Toyota National Championships is the culmination of 13 months of competition for over 12,000 amateur soccer players from coast-to-coast-to coast.

From 640 teams across the 13 Provincial and Territorial Member Associations, the U-15 Cup in Laval, QC, U-17 Cup in Surrey, BC, and the Challenge Trophy and Jubilee Trophy competitions in Saskatoon, SK will crown six National Champions. The competition runs 3 October through to Teck Finals Day on 8 October.

Three Ontario teams - Vaughan SC, Burlington Bayhawks and Scarborough GS United - got their tournament off to a good start with wins, while Caledon SC drew their opener in the Men's division and Woodbridge SC lost their opener. 

The Cumberland United SC Cobras was the only Ontario team yet to play and their first game kicks off today at 12:15 p.m. 

Winds and blistery cold conditions were the story of day one of the 2018 Toyota National Championships Challenge Trophy and Jubilee Trophy competitions in Saskatoon.

Scarborough’s Gisenia Utreras scored in the second half to open up a 3:1 victory over Quebec. Victoria Watson and Jessica De Boer added markers in a big win for the Ontario six-time champions. Gabrielle Lapointe scored for Quebec.

The Men's Ontario Cup champions, Caledon SC, drew Royal-Select Beauport 0:0 in their opening match. 

Vaughan SC defeated Yellowknife Bay SC in their opening match of the U-17 Cup. 

Kadiebue Kadiebue, Anthony Wood, Michael Petitti, Ethan Mariani, and Joshua Pulla, scored to give Vaughan a 5-0 lead at half time. 

Andrew Steko, and Giancarlo Galluzzo, scored in the second half and Joshua Pulla added a second goal to seal the victory.

The Burlington Bayhawks started off their U17-Cup journey with a commanding 7-0 victory over PEI FC.

Amanda West and Anna Bout each scored twice for Burlington, with Isabella Villaflor, Jordan Faveri, and Rebekah Lee adding singles.

Panellinios Montréal FC opened Group D with a 3:0 victory to a 10-men Woodbridge Strikers. Diego Veliz-Blackburn opened the scoring with a goal in the first half. Jules-Anthony Vilsaint and Djamel Mekallach scored to close the game for the Quebec side.
