The Men’s Ontario Cup final featured Caledon FC taking on Ottawa St. Anthony at the Ontario Soccer Centre in Vaughan.

In the semi-finals, Ottawa defeated Scarborough GS United to advance while Caledon defeated the Aurora Hearts to book their place in the final.

Caledon looked like they had opened the scoring in the 28th minute when Jordan Piccinin was sent in alone. His shot beat the Ottawa keeper but it could not beat the woodwork as the shot ricocheted off the far post and out.

The two sides would trade chances but neither were able to find a way through and they ended the half knotted at 0-0.

The second half began with Caledon applying pressure and keeping Ottawa pinned deep in their own half but they weren’t able to find the final touch that would open the scoring.

Caledon would finally find a way through in the 75th minute when Nikola Milosevic got his head on the end of a Rodrigo Quiroga free-kick and nodded it past the Ottawa keeper to make it 1-0.

Ottawa would press to try and find the equalizer but Caledon were up to the task and closed out the game comfortably to win the Men’s Ontario Cup.

With the win, Caledon now qualifies for the Toyota National Championships, held Oct. 3-8.
