The U-17 Boys Ontario Cup final featured Ajax FC taking on Vaughan SC at the Ontario Soccer Centre in Vaughan.

In the semi-finals, Vaughan defeated Erin Mills 2-1 to advance while Ajax downed the Woodbridge Strikers 4-2 on penalties to book their place in the final.

Both sides would test the other early and it was Vaughan who had the first real opportunity in the 20th minute when Kadiebue Kadiebue was pulled down in the box.

On the ensuing penalty, Vaughan’s Joshua Pulla rung his shot off the bar and it was cleared away from danger by Ajax to keep it knotted at 0-0.

The two sides would trade chances but would head into the break knotted at zeroes.

Joshua Pulla would get redemption for his side in the second half when he made a long, winding run before setting up second half substitute Apollo Tsoulos who only had to slot his shot home to make it 1-0 Vaughan.

In the 89th minute, Pulla would seal it for his side as he danced into the box and blasted his shot past the outstretched arms of the Ajax keeper to make it 2-0.

Ajax would push desperately to find the equalizer but Vaughan was equal to the task and shut it down the rest of the way.

With the win, they now advance to the Toyota National Championships, held Oct. 3-8.
