The U-17 OPDL Cup finals took place this Saturday at the Ontario Soccer Centre Stadium in Vaughan.
The OPDL Cup, in its second year, is a single-game knockout format, which is intended to introduce another level of intense competition into OPDL.
It is designed to help shape and strengthen the players’ response to the kind of environments they will encounter as they progress along the Talented Pathway towards collegiate, professional and national team opportunities.
In the Boys U-17 OPDL Cup final, the Whitby Iroquois SC scored a last minute goal to defeat Toronto FC Academy 2-1. Click here to read the match report, find photos and watch video from the final.

The U-15 OPDL Cup will take place as part of Ontario Summer Games
Following the lead and direction by the Ontario Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport’s “Games Ontario” initiative, Ontario Soccer has re-calibrated entry eligibility into the Ontario Summer Games program to ensure that athletes attending the Ontario Games are the top athletes within a specified age group.
This serves as the initial assessment platform for future athletes in the Canada Games and the Olympic Games.
As such, the Ontario Player Development League (OPDL), will place the province’s top athletes into the Ontario Summer Games. OPDL teams from the U15 age group will participate in the games in London from August 2 to 5.
The event will also serve as the final stage for the 2018 U15 OPDL Cup. In addition to the competition, a series of workshops and practical sessions are scheduled for players, coaches and match officials attending the games.
For those who cannot attend in person, the finals will be broadcast live on the Ontario Soccer Livestream.
