Goals from Malcolm Johnson and Stefan Copetti were the difference in downing Erin Mills

Play. Inspire. Unite.

The Erin Mills Eagles took on the Vaughan Azzurri in the U-18 Boys Ontario Cup Final at the Ontario Soccer Centre on Sunday.

Vaughan advanced to the final after downing the Brampton East Eagles in penalties while Erin Mills defeated Waterloo United 2-0 to advance.

The Azzurri got out of the gates quickly with a flurry of chances in the opening five minutes.

Malcolm Johnson got Vaughan on the board in the 6th minute when he jumped on an errant back pass by Erin Mills and converted his chance to make it 1-0.

The remainder of the half proved to be a midfield battle as both sides pressed one another but were not able to find a way through.

It wasn’t until the 78th minute that the next goal was scored. Vaughan’s Femi Akintomide made a fantastic individual effort to get himself into the box. His cross across the face of goal found the foot of Stefan Copetti who slotted it home to make it 2-0.

That would be all they would need as Vaughan would shut it down the rest of the way and be crowned U-18 Boys Ontario Cup champions.
