The Vaughan Azzurri took on the Niagara AS Juventus in the U-21 Men’s Ontario Cup final Sunday at the Ontario Soccer Centre.

Niagara advanced to the final after beating the Markham Lightning 2-0 on Saturday, while Vaughan moved on by defeating PCC Supersonics Cambridge 4-0.

Vaughan had a number of chances in the opening 20 minutes but failed to capitalize on the opportunities in and around the 18 yard box.

Niagara, meanwhile, seemed content to sit ten men behind the ball and counter attack where available.

It would take until the 70th minute for either team to breakthrough.

Vaughan would earn a penalty and Leonard Sohn would make no mistake in converting the opportunity to make it 1-0.

Three minutes later, Vaughan would double their lead to 2-0 as Massimo Ferrin touched the ball on to Aidan O’Hara who touched it on to Tomasz Skublak who slotted it into a wide open net.

That would be all they needed, as Vaughan shut things down the rest of the way to capture the U-21 Men’s Ontario Cup.
