Following the lead and direction by the Ontario Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport’s “Games Ontario” initiative, Ontario Soccer has re-calibrated entry eligibility into the Ontario Summer Games program to ensure that athletes attending the Ontario Games are the top athletes within a specified age group.

This serves as the initial assessment platform for future athletes in the Canada Games and the Olympic Games.

As such, Ontario Soccer is utilizing its youth provincial Boys and Girls league, known as the Ontario Player Development League (OPDL), to place the province’s top athletes into the Ontario Summer Games. OPDL teams from the U15 age group will participate in the games in London from August 2 to 6.

The event will also serve as the final stage for the 2018 U15 OPDL Cup. In addition to the competition, a series of workshops and practical sessions are scheduled for players, coaches and match officials attending the games.

Teams will begin their journey on May 10, when the first round of the OPDL Cup will be played across the province.
