Thanks to the commitment to support Match Official Development from the OCAA, OUA, League1 Ontario and Ontario Soccer, the 2018 Elite Camp was the largest group hosted in its four year history.

After field time was cancelled due to ice build up under the turf, all activities were moved to the classroom.  

Sonia Denoncourt, FIFA head of women's referee development, Tony Camacho, Amato DeLuca, Ontario Soccer Technical Director Gary Miller, Shannon Mahjeu, Dino Rossi, League1 Ontario commissioner, David Ashfield of OCAA and National Officials Sean Hornsby, David Barrie and Yusri Rudolf all gave engaging presentations on Law and soft skills including: handling stress, practical refereeing, National Program and more.

Many of the younger officials in attendance were scouted through the OPDL and other provincial competitions. 

A number of them were discovered by their District Referee Coordinators and their names were forwarded to Ontario Soccer for evaluation and assessment. 

Additionally, 10 of these officials were at NAIG Games.

Twenty of these officials are giving back through their local programs and leagues, and another 10 have just become instructors and will be working with Ontario Soccer at the 2019 Soccer Summit.

The Newest Ontario National Referee Fabrizio Stasolla, and FIFA Assistant Referee Melissa Snedden, who have attended the previous there camps, were on site to talk to other aspiring officials. 

National Referee David Barrie addressed the group about the importance of League1, OUA and OCAA in their personal development pathways.
