The final day of the Ontario Soccer Summit 2018, presented by Respect in Sport, got off to a great start.
John Furlong, former President and CEO of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, professional speaker and high profile sport leader in Canada, discussed the power of sport, how it knocks down walls and soccer's unique ability to connect with every gender, ethnicity and cross barriers of ability.
It left the Ontario Soccer Summit audience in awe and it was the high water mark for the weekend.
His keynote speech will be available March 26 on OntarioSoccer.net.
Following the keynote, Ontario Soccer President Ron Smale announced that London will be host city for the 2019 Ontario Soccer Summit.
As well, he held a moment of silence for William Hoyle, who recently passed away.
The afternoon brought a fantastic array of on-field and classroom learning.
Sebastian Dremmler of FC Bayern Munich spoke to Ontario coaches about The Way of Technical Development.
Jason deVos and Dave Nutt of Canada Soccer educated the membership on a coming Club Licensing Program, while Joey Lombardi ran a match analysis session on field.
Christopher Doyle, Twitter's Director of Partnership and Head of Sports, showed just how big the soccer conversation is online and shared valuable tips for clubs to engage their membership on Twitter.
The day concluded with two Futsal Club Toronto coaches running special futsal sessions and those dovetailed nicely into the U-16 Boys Ontario Futsal Cup final being broadcast live from the Seneca gym.
