Play. Inspire. Unite.

The U-18 Boys Ontario Indoor Cup final featured the West Toronto United FC taking on the Erin Mills Blue.

Less than two minutes into the game, West Toronto got things going early. Basile Montagnese’s first touch blast found the far corner to make it 1-0.

From there, things slowed down considerably as both sides settled into their formations and tried to break down one another on the counter attack.

Erin Mills’ Jayden Cameron nearly tied the game when he pounced on a loose ball near half and scampered around the West Toronto keeper but wasn’t able to control his own touch and his shot went harmlessly into the side netting.

Despite Erin Mills consistent press the first half would finish with West Toronto leading 1-0.

After the restart, it was more of the same as Erin Mills continued to look for an equalizer as West Toronto defended desperately.

Cameron would see another chance go begging as his bullet of a shot rang off the crossbar to safety.

West Toronto’s Elijah Sankar relieved that pressure when, against the run of play, his solo effort down the left wing ended with him slotting his shot past the Erin Mills keeper and handing his team a 2-0 lead.

West Toronto’s keeper Sebastian Zeballos’ was not to be overlooked and it was accentuated when he made up for a giveaway to Cameron with a fully-outstretched diving save that kept his shutout intact.

Cameron would get his redemption though. With 11 minutes remaining, his Erin Mills’ free kick finally solved the Zeballos’ question to draw his team to within one.

Erin Mills continued to press and Zeballos was called on to make several more stops to retain his team’s slim lead.

That would enough as West Toronto held on to capture the U-18 Boys Ontario Indoor Cup title.
