Caledon would win 5-3 but the Steel City Rapids repeatedly fought back to make it competitive

Play. Inspire. Unite.

The U-13 Girls Ontario Indoor Cup final featured the Steel City Rapids taking on the Caledon Cyclones

Caledon would get on the board first when Samantha Russell’s bullet found the back of the net to make it 1-0.

They would double their lead moments later when Angelina Kristic broke free and her blast extended the lead to 2-0.

With 10 minutes gone in the first half, Aleya Dumanski would pull one back for Steel City when she performed a clever flick to get by her defender and calmly slotted her shot home to make it 2-1.

Alexia Ntakos would restore the lead to two goals for Caledon when her shot fooled the Steel City keeper and made it 3-1.

The half would end 3-1 and Caledon firmly in control.

After the restart Steel City would be the ones on the front foot as they pressed to get back into the game.

Caledon would weather the quick start though and the lead remained 3-1 until the sixth minute of the second half.

Caledon’s Isabella Mazzaferro increased their lead to 4-1 when she outworked her defender to get in alone on net and was clinical in her finish.

Steel City refused to go away quietly and they answered right back when Isabella Fata would find herself in on net and she slipped her shot past the keeper to make it 4-2.

Two minutes later it was then 4-3, as Steel City’s Gabreilla Lepore got in on the action. Her shot, which began as a set piece, rocketed into the top right corner with just ten minutes remaining.

Three minutes after that, Caledon increased their lead back to 5-3 when Emma Warren got on the end of a back post run and was calm in her finish.

That would be all they would need as they shut the door the rest of the way and Caledon captured the U-13 Girls Ontario Indoor Cup title.
