As part of Ontario Soccer’s Long Term Officials Development (LTOD) program, the Match Officials program are pleased to report that Phase One of the Learning Management System (LMS) program was completed on time and will launch on the Jan. 1, 2018.

Phase One comprises of a Professional Development Survey and Baseline Knowledge test for all match officials in Grades 4 -10.

This is the mandatory first step in the 2018 Match Official registration process.

In January, the first component of the pre-registration requirement is that each match official is required to complete a Professional Development Survey.

This survey gives match officials the chance to tell us what they are looking for in their soccer career.  Knowing this helps us plan the tools, the support and opportunities match officials will need moving forward.

The second component is a Baseline Test on the Laws of the Game comprising multiple-choice questions and some video questions. The higher the grade of match official the more difficult the questions become.

Ontario Soccer will not record the result to your personal record, but will group all results by grade so that we can better understand each grade level of understanding and where there are knowledge gaps.

This will allow Ontario Soccer to build the best design for the LMS courses.

The survey should take no more than one hour. Once officials have completed their survey and the Baseline test they can then proceed to RefCentre and register for 2018.

The Survey and Baseline Testing will launch on Jan. 1, 2018 and Registration will be opened on Feb.15, 2018.  This allows six weeks for officials to complete the mandatory Survey and Baseline prior to registering.

There will still be a Laws of the Game Evaluation as part of the annual registration process on RefCentre, as this is part of the Ontario Soccer Grading Protocol.

Ontario Soccer will begin work on Phase Two of the LMS program early in 2018.
