Ontario Soccer is pleased to announce today that Dr. Stephen Norris will be the third and final keynote speaker at the Ontario Soccer Summit 2018.

A former Ontario Soccer Summit keynote speaker, Norris returns with his critically acclaimed approach to improving athlete performance, as well as bringing a look behind-the-scenes at what factors contribute to creating world-class athletes.

Norris served as the central performance consultant for the Own The Podium program leading up to the successful 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, B.C. where Canada won a record 14 gold medals. Norris also worked as the Executive Vice-President and Chief Sport Officer for the WinSport Winter Sport Institute.

Dr. Norris is recognized for his work as a sport scientist, an advocate for grassroots holistic development of youth and a leading authority on playground to podium performing system development.

“Dr. Norris’ keynote speech in 2016 drew rave reviews from attendees and it has been one of those speakers which we have repeatedly been asked to ensure returns to the Ontario Soccer Summit,” said Johnny Misley, Ontario Soccer Executive Director. “His depth of knowledge, in achieving peak performance in athletes, is recognized across all sport and worldwide as one of the preeminent authorities. He is certain to be another crowd hit.”

Additionally, Norris was the Director of Sport Physiology & Strategic Planning at the Canadian Sport Centre Calgary for three Winter Olympic cycles (2002, 2006 and 2010), focusing on Canada’s winter sport teams.

He has been on the Board of Directors for Swimming Canada, Cross Country Canada/Ski du Fond Canada and Bobsleigh Canada Skeleton, and is also a strong advocate for sport and recreation both locally and nationally. Born and raised in the UK, Norris is a passionate soccer fan and loyal supporter of Tottenham FC.

“The remaining session speakers for 2018, some keynote quality in their own right, will be announced Dec. 11,” said Misley. “Once revealed, we’re confident that this first-in-class event will be recognized as the can’t-miss development opportunity for 2018.”

Ontario Soccer recently announced John Furlong as the first keynote speaker and Andrea Shaw as the second keynote speaker for the Ontario Soccer Summit 2018.

As well, the first nine session speakers to the 2018 Ontario Soccer Summit have been announced. Among those speakers announced were soccer leaders: Sebastian Dremmler (Bayern Munich Youth Teams Operations Manager), Jason deVos (Director of Development, Canada Soccer) and Dr. Nick Bontis (Vice President, Canada Soccer).

Early bird tickets have sold out but there a great group discounts available and the individual ticket prices are still considered the best-value around for an event of this magnitude.
