Play. Inspire. Unite

The medal matchups are set for Teck Finals Day at the 2017 Canada Soccer Toyota National Championships.

In Surrey, BC, the hometown British Columbians missed their chance to secure the Jubilee Trophy today, and will have to wait for the Newfoundland & Labrador vs Alberta result to determine their fate. Alberta can secure the trophy with a two goal victory. At the Challenge Trophy, Nova Scotia will meet Manitoba in the gold medal game on Teck Finals Day. Saskatchewan goes for bronze against Ontario.

Quebec leads the way at the U-17 Cup in Fredericton, New Brunswick and will play for gold on both sides of the Teck Finals Day draw. Ontario also has a chance at double medals with their boys' team gunning for gold and the girls' team in the bronze medal match. British Columbia, Manitoba, and Nova Scotia round out the medal contenders.

Quebec is also gunning for gold on both sides at the U-15 Cup in Calgary, Alberta and British Columbia look to claim gold in the boys' and girls' competitions respectively. Manitoba and Ontario are also gunning for medals.

Durham Celtic look to capture bronze

Saskatoon, undefeated with two wins and two draws, will face Durham Celtic in the bronze-medal match. The two clubs last played each other in 2011, a 2:1 win for Saskatoon.

Western Halifax FC will meet FC Winnipeg Lions in the 2017 Toyota National Championships Challenge Trophy championship final. The two sides won their respective groups to advance to the gold medal match on Teck Finals Day in Surrey, British Columbia.

Winnipeg defeated Fredericton Picaroons Reds 2:1 to clinch their berth in the final. Winnipeg went undefeated with three wins and one draw to finish on ten points. By winning Group B, they are guaranteed to win their fourth national medal since 1996.  It is the Lions first trip to the championship match since they won it all in 2002.

Halifax stole a draw in the dying moments against Saskatoon HUSA Alumni to earn the single point they needed to win group A and qualify for their first ever Challenge Trophy final.  Like Winnipeg, Halifax went undefeated with three wins and one draw.

This will be the first time winners from Manitoba and Nova Scotia will face each other in the national final. Halifax King of Donair were the only Nova Scotia winners back in 2001, while Winnipeg Hellas FC were the last team from Manitoba to win it all back in 2009. This also marks the first-ever meeting between Western Halifax FC and FC Winnipeg Lions.

Scarborough GS United look to go out on a winning note

Scarborough GS United defeated Halifax Dunbrack SC 3-1 in their 4-6 seeding group play. Nicole Campbell and Sylvia Forbes each scored in the first half for Scarborough. Maxine Murchie added one late for the Ontario winners. Beatrice Currie scored her third for Halifax to give her a share of the tournament lead.

Scarborough GS United now plays CS Mont Royal Outremont to determine who will finish top of the group.

Edmonton Victoria and Surrey United played to a thrilling 2:2 draw in the second match of the medal round at the 2017 Toyota National Championships Jubilee Trophy finals.  Surrey’s schedule is now complete and will have to standby for tomorrow’s result to find out what color of medal they will receive.  Surrey United have four points while Edmonton are second with a single point and Holy Cross are third with no points.

The match between Edmonton and Holy Cross on Teck Finals Day will complete the medal group stage. With a win on Monday, Edmonton Victoria SC could capture their seventh national title. Anything but a win will result in home team Surrey United claiming their third national title.
