The U-16 Girls Ontario Cup Final featured Glen Shields FC taking on the Woolwich Wolfpack in a fast paced, athletic affair.

Wolfpack were on the front foot early going pressing and it resulted in several chances.

If it not for the play of Glen Shield’s keeper Alicia Chisholm it could have easily been a lopsided score early on.

The Wolfpack would find a way through in the 20th minute though when Calysta Azzarello made her way down the wing and whipped the ball in to the box. Madison McGregor managed to get on the end of the cross and did a nice job of directing it on to the far post for their first goal of the day.

Glen Shields would answer back in the 36th minute when Victoria Gentile’s cross in found the foot of Eva DiNallo who only had to tap it in to tie the game up at 1-1.

Alexandra Simone would give Glen Shields their first lead of the game in the 63rd moment when her audacious effort from well outside the 18-yard-box would the find the back of the net to make it 2-1.

Woolwich would not be deterred though and in the 70th minute Logan Todtz got in behind the Glen Shields defence. One on one with the keeper and Todtz calmly slotted the ball into the corner, making it 2-2 and levelling the score once again.

Neither team would be able to find the net the rest of the way and the game went directly to penalties to decide it.

In penalties Hannah Petrosino for Woolwich and Chisholm for Glen Shields were excellent in net making saves but it was the Wolfpack that were just a shade better, defeating Glen Shields 3-2 on penalties and capturing the U-16 Girls Ontario Cup
