Two goals from Barrie's Salena Devellis were enough to power them past the London Youth Whitecaps

Play. Inspire. Unite.

The U-14 Girls Ontario Cup final between the London Youth Whitecaps and Barrie FC Strikers was a contrast in styles.

London were dominant in possession in the early going and looked like they would be the ones to open the scoring with numerous chances.

However, Barrie, who hadn’t ventured much past half in the opening 10 minutes, were the ones to score first.

A fantastic individual effort by Abby Bowland sprung teammate Salena Devellis with a clever pass that nutmegged the London defender. Devellis battled her way in on goal, rounded the keeper and made it 1-0 Barrie in the 10th minute.

A few minutes later it was Devellis again as she pounced on a loose ball around the London box. She danced into the 18 and slotted her shot low into the corner to make it 2-0 Barrie.

London would continue to press for the remainder of the half but were turned away time and again by the solid Barrie defence.

It would be more of the same in the second half as Barrie seemed content to sit back and allow London to come at them.

Skilled on the ball and confident in possession, London just couldn’t find that final touch to help them breakthrough on to the scoreboard.

Barrie would keep a clean sheet the rest of the way and capture the U-14 Girls Ontario Cup.
