League leaders put under pressure in Matchweek 9

The League1 title race tightened up following one-sided results and last-gasp winners

League1 Ontario leaders had their winning streaks snapped or extended after a Matchweek Nine that had heaps of drama.

In the Women's division, FC London snapped Unionville Milliken's six match winning streak with a 3-0 result that included a brace by league leading goalscorer Jade Kovacevic. 

Woodbridge's international-tier players made the difference on Sunday as Canada U20 Jessica Lisi and Ukraine U18 player Nicole Kozlova each scored a brace, while Canada U20's Lauren Raimondo added a single, to complete a 5-0 defeat of Darby FC.

Saint Leo Lions alumni forward Arielle Kabangu scored a brace in West Ottawa's one-sided 5-0 win over Woodbridge and went second in the golden boot race, while taking West Ottawa to third place in the table. 

In the Men's division, Canada U17 player Zakaria Abdi got a late game-winner for TFC III after an entertaining back and forth match with east division side Durham United FA. 

Syracuse University and Grand Canyon University alumni and former Canada youth international Alex Halis scored a brace and maintained Sigma FC's unbeaten run after a 2-1 win over Toronto Skillz. 

Oakville Blue Devils went first overall in the men's League1 Ontario table, maintained their grip on first place in the west division after a brace from Mathew Santos and a 2-1 win over North Toronto Nitros, and extended their unbeaten run to eight matches.
