Ontario Soccer has launched the Achieving Accessibility Guide with the assistance of the EnAbling Change Partnership project with the Government of Ontario.

This guide will assist clubs and academies in generating awareness about Accessible Soccer for their members as well as assist them to meet the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).

In 2005, the Government of Ontario passed the AODA. Its goal is to make Ontario accessible by 2025, by creating and enforcing accessibility standards.

The Hon. Tracy MacCharles, the Ontario Minister Responsible for Accessibility, was on hand at the Ontario Soccer Summit to help launch the guide and to say a few words in support of Ontario Soccer's efforts.

The Summit featured an accessible soccer session which focused on the growing need for competition. It discussed how club programs are becoming more robust and have a strong sense of identity which can be shared in healthy competition and festivals.

Special thanks to the Pickering Soccer Club and the All Abilities program for their assistance in creating the guide as well as participating in the Summit session.
