The U-13 Boys Ontario Indoor Cup final featured a York region derby between Glen Shields and the Woodbridge Strikers.
Matteo Albia got Woodbridge going early when he brought down a looping cross and buried his chance, giving Woodbridge a 1-0 lead after just one minute of play.
Bryan Grey would increase the Woodbridge lead a few minutes later when his low strike from outside the box fooled the Glen Shields keeper to make it 2-0.
Following a mad scramble in front of the Glen Shield’s net, the ball fell to the foot of Justin Cicchillo whose seeing-eye shot found its way through a maze of legs and into the back of the net to make it 3-0.
Both teams would trade chances after halftime but neither were able to find a way through.
With 12 minutes remaining in the game, Woodbridge would add to their lead when Bryce Golding converted his chance to make it 4-0 and open the flood gates.
Minutes later Thomas Declemente scored a highlight reel blast when his strike from 25 yards out found its way into the top corner, making it 5-0 Woodbridge.
Daniel Longo added to the Woodridge lead to make it 6-0.
Glen Shields wouldn’t give up however and would notch their first marker of the game with a sustained high press. The turnover found its way to Evan Bradley who made no mistake in burying his chance to make it 6-1.
Woodbridge would prove too strong though as Luca Pinto and Grey would each add one more to make the final 8-1 and crown the Strikers the U-13 Boys Ontario Indoor Cup champions.
