Ontario defender Kadeisha Buchanan won the Women's World Cup Young Player Award.
The 19-year-old centreback from Brampton, Ont., was competing against Ada Hegerberg (Norway) and Jiali Tang (China).
Buchanan anchored the Canadian backline that conceded just three goals in five games throughout the Women's World Cup and has been widely lauded as one of Canada's best players at the tournament.
The winner, as chosen by FIFA's technical study group, was announced after Sunday's final in Vancouver between the U.S. and Japan.
