This Friday evening, Sept. 4, our Canadian National Men's team hosts Belize in an important World Cup qualifying match. The winner of the two-game elimination round will advance to the next stage of CONCACAF qualifying, which begins in November. Canada is looking to join three other countries, including Mexico and Honduras who have already secured a place in the fourth round and either El Salvador or Curacao.

Ontario Clubs continue to develop top talent for our National Men's Team

Coach Benito Floro's roster for Friday's key encounter at BMO Field showcases Ontario's positive influence. This announcement from Canada Soccer indicates that no fewer than 13 players who were born and trained in Ontario have been named to the 22-man roster.

This honour reflects the individual talent and determination of each of these players. It also demonstrates the outstanding work that continues to be done at the Club and Academy level when it comes to developing players who go on to perform at the National level and beyond.

As Ontario Clubs and Academies continue to show leadership in embracing the Canadian Soccer Association's Long-Term Player Development initiative, we can expect Ontario's homegrown talent will continue to emerge stronger than ever on the international stage.
