In the U-16 Tier 1 Ontario Cup finals the Woodbridge Strikers and the Niagara Falls Titans found themselves battling the elements as much as each other.

Mathew Rigato got Woodbridge off to a dream start when he found a channel in the 7th minute, rounded the keeper and deposited the ball in the back of the net to make it 1-0.

Rigato would be involved in the second goal as well when he flicked the ball on to a streaking Tyrese Edwards who burst in on goal and calmly made it 2-0 Woodbridge.

As the rain began to pour down, both teams got stuck in with some physical play as their touches began to betray them. Several hard tackles dominated the action as the two teams looked for the opportunity that would either put them ahead for good or get them back in the game.

Umberto Campana would find that moment for Niagara Falls. The ball, whipped in from way out, found the head of Campana, who twisted his body in the air and sent the ball to the far post, giving the Woodbridge keeper no chance on the play.

The goal would give Niagara new life as they pressed for the equalizer in the dying moments. The experience Woodbridge side would once again dig in however and hold on to become the Ontario Cup champions.
