Canada's men's national youth program has selected a group of 20 young soccer players to train in Burnaby, British Columbia and Los Angeles, California. The 10-day Canadian U-18 development camp starts with arrivals into Burnaby on Saturday and it will include a number of Ontario players and, in particular, League1 Ontario players.  

The camp, led by Canadian Men's U-20 coach Rob Gale, features players born 1999 or 2000. These players are all eligible up until the FIFA U-20 World Cup in 2019, while the younger players are in fact also eligible for the FIFA U-17 World Cup in 2017.

"We have grouped some of Canada's talented 1999- and 2000-born players for this camp to help support their development as soccer players," said Gale. "This gives us an opportunity to work with the players and help them grow around our game model all the way through to their U-20 year."

Of the 20 players, all but two have previously featured in the Canadian national youth program, with only Marko Mandekic and Protais Mutambala the debutants. All the players are aged between 14 and 16 years old.

This marks the 17th men's national youth project during 2015 calendar year, from the U-15 (2000-born) to U-23 (1993-born) level.
