The contenders for the 2015 FIFA Women's World Player of the Year have been announced and Ontario's Kadeisha Buchanan has made the list.

Kadeisha Buchanan was one of many bright spots for 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup™ hosts Canada, and her efforts during their run to the quarter-finals won her the tournament's Hyundai Young Player Award.

As one of the youngest players on John Herdman's squad during Canada 2015 at 19 years of age, Buchanan anchored Canada's backline throughout the competition with a calming sense of composure beyond her years and played every minute of the Women's World Cup.

Buchanan, who was born to Jamaican parents, made her senior debut for Canada in 2013 and she scored her first international goal in spectacular fashion against USA in 2014. Having been named Canada's U-20 Women's Player of the Year in 2013 and showing similarly well in Canada's defence during the 2014 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup, the future is bright for Buchanan.

Buchanan began her youth career at Brams United and has played with Erin Mills, Toronto Lady Lynx and the Ottawa Fury since. She attends West Virgina University. 

The players which remain in the running for this coveted award, having been selected by FIFA's Committee for Women's Football and the FIFA Women's World Cup™ and a group of experts from France Football.
