To celebrate the conclusion of the OPDL season, the U-14 OPDL Charity Shield Match was hosted Saturday, Nov. 14 at the Ontario Soccer Centre.

Games were played by the first team in the West Conference versus the first team in the East Conference on both genders.

The U-14 Boys, featuring the Ottawa South United vs Richmond Hill, both teams spent a good deal of the first frame feeling each other out.

Richmond Hill would be the first to break through when Jahdea Paterson did the hard work down the right side cutting the ball back to Mackenzie Cobel at the top of the box. Cobel controlled the pass well and placed the ball just beyond the arms of the outstretched keeper to make it 1-0.

Cobel would have another chance about 15 minutes later around the edge of the box but OSU keeper Zachary Barwick turned that away easily.

Cobel would find himself on the end of another opportunity just before the 50th minute as Barwick bobbled a Richmond Hill shot and this time he made no mistake, putting Richmond Hill up 2-0.

Ottawa South was given an opportunity to pull themselves back into the game when they were given a penalty kick in the 58th minute. Daniel Assaf went for placement on the ensuing kick but Francesco Tosini guessed right and kept the score 2-0 for Richmond Hill.

Richmond Hill would shut it down the rest of the way to capture the U-14 Boys OPDL Charity Shield.
