The Ontario Soccer Association recently met with representatives from the national governing body to discuss Canada Soccer’s Regional Excel Women's program known as “REX.”

Canada Soccer is exploring a dynamic-model across the country that will identify and cultivate the top talent for national team programs.

The purpose of Canada Soccer’s REX program is to develop players to a National Excel environment.

The OSA will continue to support Canada Soccer’s efforts through its investment in standards-based leagues, such as the OPDL and League1 Ontario, with increased scouting and tracking of the top talent in the province.

Should, in the future, Canada Soccer set up and operate a REX program in Ontario, the OSA will support the national women’s program to ensure our province's top, talented players, identified through our standards-based leagues, are provided the opportunity to participate.

As the first province to endorse both a standards-based approach at the youth, as well as the pro-am levels, Ontario’s approach to high-performance development continues to be a leader in Canada.
