The U-18 Boys Ontario Indoor Cup final, between London Youth Whitecaps and Waterloo United, had some really nice skill on display throughout from both teams but it was London who would dominate on the scoreboard.
London would get things going early, when Ethan Gopaul made a nice individual effort to first dispossess his opponent and then make a long run to give London a 1-0 lead 5 minutes in.
A few minutes later, Patrick Melo would add to the London lead when he put on his left foot and buried his shot low and to the far corner, making it 2-0 LYW.
Noel Franklin kept things rolling for London as he danced in from half and rifled a shot over the shoulder of the Waterloo keeper to make it 3-0.
Takacs Grant continued the press, making it 4-0 for London only 10 minutes in. Michael Sneddon would add a fifth for London before the half ended with London leading 5-0.
Waterloo showed an improved start to the second half, earning a few dangerous chances of their own but London’s attack was too good.
Ethan Vigario, Logan Wright and Logan Kam got in on the action for London next, becoming the sixth, seventh and eighth players to be added to the scoresheet for the Whitecaps.
Waterloo would pull one back in consolation as Florian Bruckeder chipped his shot by the London keeper. The game would finish 8-1 for London, as they captured the U-18 Boys Ontario Indoor Cup.
