Canada Soccer invited a special guest to the recent Para Soccer camp in Oakville, Ontario: five-time JUNO award winner and #CanadaRED fan Alan Frew. The lead singer of Canadian rock group Glass Tiger took part in a special session on May 5 at the Oakville Soccer Centre.

Frew met and interacted with members of the Canadian squad, currently in preparation for this summer's IFCPF Qualification Tournament in Vejen, Denmark. The 2016 tournament serves as a qualification competition for the 2017 IFCPF Intercontinental Cup.

"Presently recovering from a stroke myself, their team spirit, positive attitude and playing of the beautiful game despite having suffered the trauma and adversity of major health issues themselves, is nothing short of inspirational," Frew told CanadaSoccer.com.

In all, 20 players were selected for the five-day camp in Oakville, Ontario.Outside this large group, all-time leading goal scorer Trevor Stiles was unavailable due to injury (although he is expected to return by July).

Canada's National Para Soccer Team is made up of athletes who have cerebral palsy or have had a stroke or brain injury. Athletes that are interested in Canada's Para Soccer Team should contact coach Drew Ferguson.

Frew himself is presently recovering from a stroke suffered in August 2015.
