The U-15 Girls Ontario Cup featured the Woolwich Wolfpack and Saltfleet Stoney Creek Elite facing off for the provincial championship, as well as an Ontario Summer Games Gold Medal.

Both teams excelled through the group stage of the event, which was held Aug. 11 to Aug. 13, in Mississauga.

The four day tournament is a two group round robin format. The winner from each group moves on to the final.

Saltfleet was undefeated earning wins over the Thunder Bay Chill Selects and Ottawa Gloucester Impact, while tying the North Mississauga Panthers. Saltfleet didn’t allow a goal throughout their group play.

Woolwich was also undefeated, winning all three of their games against London Youth Whitecaps, Mount Hamilton and Sault Civics. They too didn’t allow a single goal in group play and racked up 14 goals over their three games.

The shutout streaks would come to an end in the final though when these two teams faced off on Sunday and put on a spirited affair.

Ivana Kanisek would lead the way for Saltfleet with a pair of goals on the day.

Her good work, combined with Renata Djuravcevic’s lone marker would prove to be the difference as Saltfleet were able to hunt down the win, the Ontario Summer Games Gold Medal and the Ontario Cup Championship.

Alliyah Rowe would score the lone goal for Woolwich.
