The U-16 Boys Tier 1 Ontario Cup Final, presented by Room Roster, featured two of the more emerging clubs in Ontario.

The Scarborough Wexford Stingers and Waterloo United beat the best of the best to get to the final and each showed the skills that had brought them this far.

After a flurry of an opening 15 minutes, Waterloo was the first to find their way through.

After a mad scramble in front, which saw several Waterloo players have good chances go begging, the ball fell to the foot of Andreas Florescu who gave it a little poke and fooled the keeper, making it 1-0 Waterloo.

It wouldn’t take long for Scarborough to answer though. Wexford striker Kobie Gooding- Meade brought down a ball near the centre line and put Scarborough on his back as he made a tremendous individual drive towards the net. Holding off three Waterloo defenders, Gooding-Meade managed to poke the ball past the United keeper and tie the game at 1-1.

Gooding-Meade’s individual effort would lead to his second goal and Scarborough’s first lead of the game. After a miss-hit by the Waterloo keeper, the Scarborough striker pounced on the opportunity, driving to net and blasting the ball bar down for the goal.

The Scarborough striker would complete his hattrick in the 75th minute off a freekick that had seeing eyes and fooled everyone.

Just when it was looking like Wexford had it locked up though, Waterloo stormed back down the field a minute later and a dangerous cross into the box deflected off a Scarborough defender and into their own net making it 3-2.

Waterloo would continue to press late, looking for the equalizer. Despite numerous chances in and around the Scarborough net, they weren't able to find a way through and Wexford hung on to be crowned the U-16 Tier1 Boys Ontario Cup champions.
