The U-17 Girls Ontario Cup, presented by Room Roster, featured two southwestern Ontario squads looking to add to their trophy cases.

The Saltfleet Stoney Creek Black did not allow a single goal during the knockout stages of their Ontario Cup. Kitchener was equally as dominant as they blanked Ajax 1-0 in their semi-final matchup.

The first half saw both teams cautiously testing each other’s limits in different areas of the park. Neither team wanted to commit too many players forward, for fear of the counter attack.

The defensive play saw both teams head into the break knotted at 0-0.

The second half would start with a flurry of action however.

Christine Sullivan pounced on a loose ball in the Saltfleet Stoney Creek box and volleyed it into the back of the net for the game’s first goal in the 49th minute.

Minutes later, it was Sullivan again pouncing on the loose ball in her opponent’s box and the result was the same as she increased the Kitchener lead to 2-0.

Kitchener would add to their lead in the 82nd minute when Gabriella Zepeda Ayala jumped on a rebound and buried their third goal of the day.

Victoria Smith would draw one back for Saltfleet in the dying minutes when her corner kick fooled everyone and found the back of the net.

That would be as close as they get though as Kitchener had secured their title run and captured the U-17 Girls Ontario Cup championship.
