The U-14 Girls Ontario Cup Final, presented by Room Roster, featured Waterloo United and Oakville SC in the first final on Sunday and they didn’t wait long to get things going.

Just 15 minutes in, Oakville’s Katya Lopac found herself all alone in behind the Waterloo defence. She made no mistake, burying her opportunity to give Oakville a 1-0 lead.

Waterloo nearly answered right back moments later when Brynn Morgan rounded the Oakville keeper Jessica Urban. She had an open net to shoot at but it was too narrow an angle to covert her chance and Oakville retained their narrow lead.

Waterloo would have another chance just moments later as the ball squeaked past Urban, but it was immediately cleared from the line by Monique Cote to preserve the lead heading into the half.

Urban would continue to star in the second half making a number of saves point blank to keep the score that way it was until the dying moments.

With time running out and Oakville clinging to their 1-0 lead, Waterloo earned a corner three minutes into extra time. The corner fell favourably to the foot of Abby White and she chipped Urban to finally tie it and send the game to penalties.

White would also be the difference in penalties as well as it was her goal who would secure it for Waterloo as they captured the U-14 Girls Ontario Cup by downing Oakville 3-2 on penalties.
