With the outdoor season winding down, it's important to begin looking ahead to next year.

The Ontario Player Development League (OPDL) will phase in the U-16 age division into operation in 2017.  The OPDL already operates the U-13, U-14 and U-15 divisions for the OSA's standards-based, youth high performance league, which combines top level competition, with strict high performance training standards.

"2017 is going to be another exciting year for the OPDL," Miller said. "We're now beginning to see the vision for this league pay off, as players are already attracting attention from universities in Canada and the USA and we're seeing OPDL players being channelled up into our national teams as well."

The Ontario Youth Soccer League (OYSL) will operate boys and girls divisions in the U-17 and U-18 age groups in 2017.

The Ontario Youth Soccer League was established in 1993 to facilitate competitive youth soccer for girls and boys in Ontario. All teams playing in the League have gained the right to compete in the league through promotion from Regional Leagues.

"We're very thankful to the OYSL for the work they have done in Ontario's competitive environment," said Gary Miller, OSA Technical Director said. "Their volunteer board has done an excellent job in shepherding the young careers of our athletes and they deserve recognition for all the hard work they've done."

"Both OYSL and OPDL have a lot to be proud of in what Ontario is creating and what it has done up until this point."
