The U-15 Boys OPDL Charity Shield featured Ottawa South United, the Eastern Conference champions, taking on Vaughan Azzurri, the champions from the West.
Both teams would trade good chances early with each keeper being forced into making difficult saves to keep the score locked at 0-0.
Ottawa South would break the deadlock just before the end of the first half with some clever midfield play.
OSU’s Mehdi Essoussi backheel sprung Luca NiCastro who burst past the Vaughan defence and blasted his left footed shot into the corner to make it 1-0.
Vaughan started strong in the second half and were rewarded for their efforts. A looping ball into the box fell to the foot of Dujon Martin and he made no mistake, burying his chance and levelling the score at 1-1 with 25 minutes remaining.
The two would trade chances the rest of the way but neither were able to find a way through and the game ended regular time tied 1-1 and went immediately to penalties.
In penalties Vaughan was near perfect winning 4-3 and capturing the U-15 Boys OPDL Charity Shield
