It is with great pleasure the OSA announces the first Provincial Talent Development Centre event, being held in four locations (Whitby, Soccer Centre/Vaughan, Guelph, Hamilton) on June 28 for girls and June 29 for boys.

The Provincial Talent Development Centre is geared towards technical habit introduction and implementation for OPDL head coaches and talented players from across the province.

One-hundred-twenty players and 16 goalkeepers have been selected for the June weekend, of which two-thirds come from existing OPDL organizations and one-third come from member clubs outside the OPDL that are aligned with the OSA’s inclusive approach of detecting talented players across the province.

Coaches and players will get exposed to “Vision and Awareness” and “Receiving and Turning Efficiency” technical content over the course of the day.

Technical habit development and underlying player rubrics are the key to the systematic approach taken in supporting talented players to reach their full potential. It is critical that coaches understand the methodical approach of technical ‘building blocks’ in a player’s environment, in order to develop a strong and consistent player profile, when working with talented players.

Players are invited on a per-event basis in order to accommodate their individual rate of development in this long-term process.
