It wasn’t the result the Canadian U-20 Women’s team was looking for in their opening game of the World Cup but there were plenty of positives.

Not the least of which included 10 Ontario players seeing the pitch in Canada’s 1-0 loss to Ghana.

Kallen Sheridan (Pickering) had the start in goal for Canada, allowing one goal and stopping several good chances from the Ghanians. Nine other outfield players from the province saw action.

Sura Yekka (Toronto), Kinley McNicoll (Oakville), Kadeisha Buchanan (Toronto), Rebecca Quinn (Toronto), Ashley Campbell (Richmond Hill), Jessie Flemming (London), Nichelle Prince (Ajax), Ashley Lawrence (Toronto) and Victoria Pickett (Newmarket) all shared time in the game that Canada likely deserved a better result from.

Canada now faces Finland on Friday. Finland lost their opening match to Korea DPR 2-1.

Watch the interview with Nichelle Prince below.
