More than 50 coaches and game officials recently attended the OSA player development department’s educational session on The Retreat Line, hosted by Southeast Ontario Soccer Association (SOSA).
The three-hour presentation started with a 90 minute “on field” session, with 60 players boys and girls players from U-9 to U-10.
The session covered various topics including: preferred practice model as well as coaching methodology.
Following the “on field” session the coaches and officials took part in a classroom presentation, discussing the benefit of the retreat line as a teaching tool for young player development.
SOSA’s Game Officials department and OSA’s Player Development department will continue to work closely together to provide an educational environment for both players and coaches. SOSA’s technical department are to be commended for providing support to the grassroots players, coaches, referees, and parents.
“Consistency is one of the most essential factors for young players while in an educational environment. Because of this, we will ensure that all parties in SOSA receive the same message to pass on to players in order to achieve a fun and enjoyable season.” said Ramin Mohammadi, Manager, Player Development East.
